Great Weekend Sale - Lake Lanier, Georgia

The weather continues to be tropical in the Atlanta, Georgia, area which causes me to go further and further to visit estate and yard sales throughout the broader region.  Yesterday, I traveled about 40 miles each way to Lake Lanier - to a beautiful home on the lake holding a really nice "estate sale" - really more like a garage sale but worth the trip.  I bought two chairs (to be refurbished in Annie Sloan Chalk Paints link to site and several other odds and ends.  I could have bought much more but restrained myself.  The ladies hosting the sale own (or did own) a shop and some of their shop items were drastically reduced and available for sale - lots of buying going on.

In preparing this post, I thought I'd add some information about Lake Lanier and went to my trusty source, Wikipedia, and found out things I had not known!
Lake Lanier (officially Lake Sidney Lanier) is a reservoir in the northern portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. It was created by the completion of Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River in 1956, and is also fed by the waters of the Chestatee River. The lake encompasses 38,000 acres (150 km2)59 square

One of the main purposes of the lake is flood control downstream of the lake, mainly protecting metro Atlanta. There have only been two major flooding events on the downstream section since the construction of Buford Dam. The most recent flooding event was in 2009.  source
The location of the sale itself was right on the water - and the sale was well staged - here are some of the goodies!  I may go back Saturday to see what's left and to do some hard bargaining!
