Day Four of RED, WHITE and BLUE Decorating

I am continuing my week-long series of RED, WHITE and BLUE blogs - in honor of the 4th of July.  There are a LOT of articles and blogs out there about using these colors as a base for home decorations and the results are beautiful year-round.

This journey has also allowed me to get nostalgic about my many years of selling heirloom-quality refurbished upholstered furniture through Wydeven Designs (link to website).  I am going through my photo archives to focus on previous-year furniture reflecting this color combination.   I have posted 2007, 2008, and 2009 photos - today I have some from 2010 (my prior years 2004-2006) are less accessible from my current computer file).
These colors [red, white and blue] are considered to be America's colors, the colors of freedom and independence in our nation, since they are the shades represented on the American flag. From throw pillows to candles, it is very easy to step into a home decor store of any class and find items in these great standard colors with just a bit of imagination and creativity. source
One of my favorite real and virtual magazines is Elle Decor - link to article about red, white and blue decorating.  They have a photo-spread of great rooms by well-known designers that are very livable and usable all year-round!

The gallery of a Manhattan home by Miles Redd features a bench by John Rosselli Antiques and Decorations and a leather-covered door trimmed with silver nailheads; the floor is painted in a faux-marble pattern, and the walls are lacquered Yves Klein-blue.
In a New York City home designed by Robert Couturier, a Jean Dubuffet painting is displayed above the living room sofa; the 18th-century chair is by Georges Jacob, and the cloisonné lamp is from the 1950s.
The living room of São Paulo–based designer Sig Bergamin’s Manhattan apartment. The ottoman, linen-covered chairs, and velvet armchair, which has a back upholstered in a Braquenié cotton, are by Bergamin.
A Regency sofa, a Directoire side table, and an ottoman upholstered in a Savonnerie rug in Charles de Ganay’s drawing room.

Here are some of my 2010 pieces that would work in a RED, WHITE and BLUE setting!
2010 - Just add a pop of red and/or blue!
2010 - Love the large-scale blue and white roses - just add red for the patriotic holidays!
2010 - Coral red but it would work!
2010 - One of my favorites this year - great French style chaise!
2010 - Fits into any setting - neutrals can be part of ANY color combination!
2010 - Love this lively shade of blue!
2010 - One of my other favorite pieces this year - a great linen settee!
I am loving looking at these pieces and wish I could see how they look in their new settings!  Here's a link to my new facebook page - I cannot figure out how to place it generally on my blog and will just add to each posting until I do - Facebook Page - Wydeven Designs
